分かれ目は 3 つあります。
occur toの主語は「考え」 …It occurred to me that ...（〜という考えが浮かんだ）。
人が主語ではないので、日本語の「思いついた」から作ると語順を間違えます。play a partとplay a role（中学のパック）… ほぼ同じ「役割を果たす」。partもroleも舞台の「役」から来ています。save faceとlose face（05 のノート）… 面目を保つと失う。対で覚えます。
